Roger Bresnahan, manager and catcher for the St Louis Nationals
was born in Tralee, Ireland, June 14, 1880, He started his baseball
career in 1896 with Lima, of the Interstate League. In 1897 and 1898
he was with Washington, in 1899 with Minneapolis, and 1900 with
Chicago Nationals. He played with Baltimore in 1901, and went to the
New York Giants in 1902, with a reputation as one of the best
baseball players in the business. His regular place was behind the
bat, but with the New York's he helped fill both infield and
outfield, doing well at all positions, and also fattening the score
with his heavy hitting. In six years ending 1908 his aggregate
batting average was .292. Link
