Baseball Card
Miller Huggins, the reliable second baseman for the St. Louis
Cardinals, has distinguished himself in his position at the head of
their batting order. In the season of 1910 he was the star waiter of
the National League being awarded 116 passes to first. His batting
eye was certainly good-he was only struck out 46 times in 151 games
while cracking out 145 hits, good for 175 bases. It is worth noting
that he scored 101 runs.
Huggins was the "Mighty Mite" who managed the Yankees to
dominance in the 1920s, winning six pennants in eight years and
three World Series titles, the first three in franchise history. He
was a feisty, temperamental manager who wasn't afraid to challenge
players and opponents who were twice his size, which almost everyone
was. His death late in the 1929 season was one of the saddest days
in franchise history, and the viewing of his casket at Yankee
Stadium drew tens of thousands of fans.

the pulse taker, the traffic cop and sometimes a lot of unprintable
