2003 All-Star Game
The 2003 All-Star Game of Major League Baseball was the 74th playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of the
American League and National League. The game was played on July 15th, 2003 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Ill, home of the
American Leagues Chicago White Sox. The game was won by the American League 7-6.
Trailing by four runs going into the sixth inning of the 74th All-Star Game, the AL mounted a consistent rally that was capped by a
Hank Blalock pinch-hit, two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth.
A night after winning the Home Run Derby, Angels left fielder Garret Anderson made a difference, too, going 3-for-4 with a home run
and two RBIs. He was named the game's Most Valuable Player.
The AL extended its unbeaten streak in the Midsummer Classic to seven. The AL won five in a row starting in 1997 before last
year's 11-inning tie.
