1995 All-Star Game Program

The 1995 All-Star Game of Major League Baseball was the 66th playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of the American League and National League. The game was played on July 11th, 1995 at The Ballpark at Arlington in Arlington, Texas, home of the American Leagues Texas Rangers. The game was won by the National League 3-2.

On a ninety-six degree evening at The Ballpark in Arlington, Texas, the National League made the most of just three hits (the lowest for a winning squad since 1952) in defeating the AL 3-2. The key: all three were home runs. After 5 2/3 innings it certainly didn't appear the NL would triumph. AL pitchers Randy Johnson, Kevin Appier, and Dennis Martinez combined to no-hit Senior Circuit batters. Not until Houston's Craig Biggio homered off Martinez did the National Leaguers collect their first hit.

Mike Piazza tied the game in the 7th inning by homering off Kenny Rogers. In the eighth inning Jeff Conine pinch hit for DH Ron Gant. Facing Steve Ontiveros, who had also just entered the game, the 29-year-old Conine delivered a 410-foot homer to the lower deck in left. That was all the National League needed to win -- and it earned Conine All-Star MVP honors.
