1984 All-Star Game
The 1984 All Star Game was the 55th midseason exhibition between the all-stars of the American
League and the National League. The game was played on July 10th, 1984 at the Candlestick Park in San Francisco, Ca. home
of the San Francisco Giants of the National League. The game resulted in a 3-1 victory for the NL.
The National League scored in the first as Steve Garvey singled and went to second when Reggie Jackson misplayed the ball.
Dale Murphy followed with a single to left and Garvey headed for home, bowling over Lance Parrish at the plate for a 1-0
lead. George Brett tied it with a home run in the top of the second and the National League went ahead again on Gary
Carter's homer in the bottom of the inning. After that, it was all pitching and another National League win.
The MVP of the all-star game was
Gary Carter of the Montreal Expos.
