The game was held in Detroit, Michigan, at Tiger Stadium, home of the American Leagues Detroit Tigers. The game was won by the American League 6-4.

Six Future Hall of Famers- Johnny Bench, Hank Aaron, Reggie Jackson, Frank Robinson, Harmon Killebrew and Roberto Clemente-homer in the game to account forevery run scored by both teams.
