1954 All-Star Game
The 1954 All-Star Game was the 21st playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of
the American League and National League. The game was held on July 13, 1954, at Municipal Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio
the home of the Cleveland Indians of the American League. The game resulted in the American League defeating the National
League 11-9.
Cleveland's Municipal Stadium was packed with 68,751 people for the 21st All-Star Game and what a classic it would prove
to be. The teams combined for a total of 20 runs and the lead see-sawed back and forth all game long. The Tribe's Al Rosen
thrilled the hometown faithful with two homers in a game which featured a total of six blasts. The American League finally
snapped the NL's four-game win streak with an eighth-inning rally capped by a two-run single from the Pale Hose's
Nellie Fox.
