1948 All-Star Game
The 1948 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 15th playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of
the American League and National League. The game was held on July 13, 1948, at Sportsman's Park in St. Louis, Missouri
the home of the St. Louis Browns of the American League. The game resulted in the American League defeating the National
League 5-2.
The American League, crippled by injuries to four of its top stars-
Joe Dimaggio,
Ted Williams,
George Kell and
Hal Newhouser-still managed to overcome a 2-0 deficit and win for the 11th time in 15 All-Star Games. The National League
jumped on starter Walt Masterson for two runs in the top of the first.
