1946 All-Star Game
The 1946 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 13th playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of
the American League and National League. The game was held on July 9, 1946, at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts
the home of the Boston Red Sox of the American League. The game resulted in the American League defeating the National
League 12-0.
The Midsummer Classic picked up after a one-year hiatus due to World War II.
Ted Williams, in his first season back after
flying for the Marine Corps during the war, served notice that he was all-the-way back in this game. The Splinter was
4-for-4, had two homers, five RBIs and tied or set five All-Star Game records.
