1944 All-Star Game
The 1944 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 12th playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of the
American League and National League. The game was held on July 11, 1944, at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the
home of the Pittsburgh Pirates of the National League. The game resulted in the National League defeating the American
League 7-1.
The National League, led by the Chicago Cubs' Bill "Swish" Nicholson, who ignited a four-run rally in the fifth with a
pinch-hit double, beat the American League, 7-1. Cub Phil Cavarretta reached base safely a record five times on a triple,
single and three walks.
