1942 All-Star Game
The 1942 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 10th playing of the midsummer classic between the American
League and National League. The game was held on July 6, 1942, at Polo Grounds in New York, New York the home of
the New York Giants of the National League. The game resulted in the American League defeating the National League 3-1.
The first war-time game was a twilight affair which started at 7:22 p.m. after a blackout test. Cleveland's Lou Boudreau,
leading off the game, crushed Mort Cooper's second pitch into the upper left-field stands for a homer. Tommy Henrich
followed with a double and Rudy York tagged one into the short right-field porch to give the American League all the
runs it needed.
