1936 All-Star Game
The 1936 All-Star Game was the 4th playing of the mid-summer classic between the all-stars of the American
League and National League. The game was held on July 7, 1936 at Braves Field in Boston, Massachusetts, the
home of the Boston Braves of the National League. The game resulted in the National League defeating the
American League 4-3. It was the National League's first win in All-Star Game history.
The National League was aided by the strong arms of
Dizzy Dean
and
Carl Hubbell. Cubs
outfielder Augie Galan smacked a home run as the NL built a 4-0 lead before the Americans finally broke through
in the seventh with three tallies. Rookie Joe DiMaggio made the last out of the game on a fly ball, taking an 0-for-5
collar in his first All-Star Game appearance.
